Small works made during artist's residency at Arteles Creative Center, Hausjarvi, Finland where they were excavating distance to home through the heart and dream spaces. The other works were made directly following during a second artist's residency at South Porch Artists, Summerville, SC which is a hop skip and jump away from my childhood home. It was a deeply reconnecting time and continues to explore the bounds of collage as a way to file, sort, organize mental information. The environmental outcomes weave seemingly disparate elements together through the subtle and intricate visual relationships, akin to how our brains process information and develop concepts to identify stable environments.
